There’s a proper synoptic westerly blowing and high cloud streaming in from a NW cloudband which is casting a wan yellow light over proceedings. In other words, it’s very deep autumn. Corduroy from a small clean ESE swell is stretched out to sea and is producing super buffed surf in the 2-3ft range. Sets are [...]

Gloomy overcast morning with clean surf from the SE/ESE in the 2-3ft range. A cold front and trough are passing through with a cloudband and offshore airflow. This should see winds remain light and from the western quadrant for most of the day. Combined with the swell which may kick a touch during the day [...]

It’s another cool, cloudy start to the morning with offshore breezes and surf from the SE. Size pulsed a notch yesterday afternoon as swell from a low lingering near New Zealand made landfall and this source is still with us this morning. Size is in the 3ft range or so with clean conditions. Amazing red [...]

Cool, misty, showery Mothers Day morning with a raggedy but increased SE swell in the house. Winds are cool SW but haven’t managed to smooth out the gurgle from twenty plus knots of sou-easter yesterday. Expect winds to clock around to the SE during the morning. Size is 2-3ft with the odd bigger one and [...]

Sorry about the late report, I’ve been waiting for a gap in the heavy rain squalls. Haven’t missed much: surf is a gurgly 2ft or so with uneven shape. Winds are light offshore at the moment, threatening to turn SE and there are further squalls and popcorn out to sea.  Couple of rideable waves for [...]

Surf still from the SE with cleanish lines and land breezes. Size is holding in the 2ft range, which is equating to a few fun peaks on high tide banks. The high pressure ridge got a bit of a reinforcing boost overnight so SE winds are expected to kick up a notch stronger today. That [...]

There’s still motion in the ocean as a SE swell remains persistent but it does look to have eased a notch from yesterday. It might be a tad smaller but it does look cleaner, that annoying gurgle yesterday looks to have been smoothed out by overnight offshore breezes which have carried through into the early [...]

Swell pulsed nicely yesterday and winds veered from S back to SW and W during the day. An unexpected treat which delivered some good overhead point surf. Swells hanging in there this morning but has a bit of gurgle running through it, possibly related to the high tide or the presence of SE winds closeby. [...]

Similar deal to yesterday with squally showers drifting up the coast in a prevailing southerly flow. Winds are SW at the moment but will swing S to SE through the morning. Surf is still from the S but has weakened from yesterday. It’s nothing grand, some scrappy bits and pieces on the Points and corners [...]

Cool showery morning here with rain squalls drifting from south to north and a swell from the south. It’s nothing special, being in the 3ft range and with that raggedy look to it which accompanies most south swells that arrive with the wind. There’s some undistinguished but serviceable peelers to be ridden this morning if [...]
